5th/6TH GRADE VOLLEYBALL INFO

Note: Volleyball "club season" is the same as what some sports call a "comp season".

The club season starts on December 7th.  6:00-8:00 at PJMS for athletes who have been invited to the team.  If you were not invited this year, we'd encourage you to play developmental in the spring and tryout with the 7th graders next year.

Schedule: For athletes who we take on our club team, additional practices in December will be on the 14th & 21st at PJMS, 6:00-8:00.  (If your athlete isn't ready for club volleyball, we encourage her to play a developmental season which follows club, starting in April/May.)

Practices starting in January will be Wednesdays at PJMS 6:00-8:00.

Practices will move to a regular two days a week beginning in March, and we will have one end of season tournament (Likely in Anchorage) in March/April.  The two days a week will be Wednesday/Friday, and we will use this time to prepare for that end of season tournament.

Club season starts in December and typically runs through late March or early April, depending on which weekend the team's last tournament is.

ACE Cost:  $400 for the season.

This cost is all inclusive. It pays for gym rentals, tournaments fees, jersey's/practice shirts.

USA Volleyball Cost: $30.00 - this is split into $20 to USAVB and $10 to the Alaska Chapter of USAVB.  All participants in club must be registered with USAVB in order for us to be covered under their umbrella.  This is a separate fee and a separate registration that you will complete when you register.

12U Coach - Jayme DeHart

This is the second year ACE has taken a 12U team.    This season we will focus on fundamental skills and learning the characteristics of being a competitive volleyball team.  Club volleyball has many key differences than 5th or 6th grade school volleyball, and we will spend time making the team comfortable with the differences. For our final tournament, we will likely have to play up an age bracket, in the 13U or 14U division.  Last year, we beat the other 12U team in our age division and held our own against some of the 14U teams.

We are hopeful that with this opportunity, we will give our 6th graders a jump start into the 13U division that they would normally start as 7th graders.
